Madden, Russell Lloyd, 74, Mount Union, passed away April 25, 2021 at home. Born November 29, 1946, Huntingdon, son of the late Samuel L. and Romaine (Guyler) Madden. Survived by younger siblings, Sue Manoskey, Mark Madden, and Tim Madden. Russ spent his time as a teen working with his dad in the car business. He graduated from Captain Jack High School in 1965. Russ worked at Owens Corning Fiberglass for several years before opening a used car lot, auto body repair, and tire business in Mount Union. Russ served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971, where he was in the Service Corp. stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He served on several boards at the American Legion Post 107 and American Legion Country Club. Russ always found time to play golf with his friends and help many people in town. Once you got to know Russ, you had a friend for life. He loved his mother and family very much and enjoyed when they came to visit. Russ enjoyed the outdoors, camping, boating, and fishing. After retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of building a lighthouse (cabin) between the Juniata River and the American Legion Country Club. Even after he retired his golf clubs, he still could be seen riding in his golf cart visiting friends with a set of clubs behind him. Family and friends will be received Saturday May 1, 2021 from 11a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, Dorothy Hararas and Joseph Barrett, co-officiants. All guests are asked to follow COVID-19 guidelines. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Russ’s name. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care™.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com.
