Ronald R. Woodward

Woodward, Ronald R., 84, Rockhill Furnace, passed away unexpectedly at his home April 21, 2020. Born October 13, 1935, Shade Gap, he was the only son of the late Violet Lurene Woodward. Survived by wife, Barbara J. (Chilcoat) Woodward whom he married June 11, 1955 in Hagerstown Maryland; children, Deborah L. Denison, Orbisonia; David N. Woodward and wife Michele, Rockhill; Darlene K. Gilliland and husband Daniel, Orbisonia; 9 grandchildren, Staci, Kelly, Jessica, Abigale, Joshua, Madison, Corey, Daniel II, Caleb; 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Albert J. Denison. Ronald loved listening to country music and playing poker. His family and friends will remember him as a kind gentle man who was always joking and making people laugh. In his earlier years he worked for Plummers, Knouse Foods and various construction jobs. Most recently he was a self-employed painter. Ronald looked forward to his daily trips to the Post Office. He was most happy when spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Family Hospice, 201 Chestnut Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601. Due to the recent restrictions placed on funeral homes for conducting visitations and funerals, the family has elected to hold a drive through visitation on Sunday April 26, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects to honor Ronald’s memory. A private interment will follow at Salem Cemetery, Tell Township, Pastor Richard Harter, officiant. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
