Cassatt, Margaret A. (Bodnar), 88, Mount Union, went home to be with the Lord March 14, 2020 at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown. Born July 28, 1931, Mount Union, daughter of the late George and Anna Bodnar. Preceded in death by siblings, Michael Bodnar, Helen Komir and George Bodnar. Survived by her children, Suzanne Brown and husband, Dan, Mount Union; Gregory Cassatt, Mount Union; and Michael Cassatt, Shirleysburg; 5 grandchildren, Matthew Brown and wife, Erika, Mount Union; Emily Brown and companion, Jonathan Clemens, McVeytown; Nicholas Brown, Mount Union; Gregory Cassatt, Florida; and Michael Cassatt and wife, Alyssa, Shirleysburg; and 5 great-grandchildren; Vance Hower, Zillia Clemens, Amelia Brown, Zaiden Cassatt and Natalyn Cassatt. Margaret was a member of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Mount Union, where she was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and taught CCD for many years. She was a 1949 graduate of Mount Union High School. She was the class secretary and enjoyed planning class reunions for her fellow “49ers.” Margaret worked at the former G.C. Murphy store in Mount Union and retired from the Mount Union Area School District in 2001 as a secretary. She was an avid reader, loved crocheting many afghans and working outside in her many flower beds. Margaret always attended any event involving her children and grandchildren. She was an avid historian, collecting any information about local history. Family and friends will be received Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Catholic Daughters of America will recite the rosary at 5 p.m. followed by a vigil service for the deceased, Rev. Joseph Flemming, celebrant. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 20, 2020 at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 203 W. Market Street, Mount Union, PA 17066 or Home Nursing Agency Foundation, Family Hospice, 201 Chestnut Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
