Howe, Julia A., 105, resident of Cambria Care Center, formerly of Cresson, went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2020. Born February 25, 1915, Cresson, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Mignona) Vassalotti. Preceded in death by her husband Alfred L. Howe on November 11, 1968; sisters, Mary D’Auria and Josephine Reed; brothers, Paul, Lewis, Pat and Vincent “Jimmy” Vassalotti. Survived by her brother, Floyd Vassalotti and wife Rosalind, Lexington, South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. Julia was affectionately known as “Aunt Julie” to all. She attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and Mount Aloysius Academy until the tenth grade before leaving to help her family. In 1974 she retired from Publix Shirt Co., Gallitzin. When she was in her 80’s she earned her High School Equivalency Diploma. Julie was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Third Order Regular, Catholic Daughters of America, Sankertown VFW Post 7377, American Legion Auxiliary Post 238 where she was a previous chaplain, Railroad Social Club and the Senior Citizens and Senior Activities Center, Cresson. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11 a.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson, Rev. Leo Arnone celebrant. Committal St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church, 211 Powell Ave., Cresson, PA 16630 in memory of Julie.
