The visitation and vigil service for Janet R. Lazere-Gottlied has been postponed until further notice. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to each of you for your expressions of sympathy, but they also want everyone to be safe against the spread of the Coronavirus.

Lazere-Gottlied, Janet R., 70, Fort Washington, MD, formerly of Cresson, went home to be with the Lord February 23, 2020. Born December 30, 1949, Altoona, daughter of Frederick M. and Rose A. (Sako) Lazere. Preceded in death by her father. Survived by her mother; husband, Mark A. Gottlied; son, Joshua Gottlied, Fort Washington, MD; granddaughter, Emma; sisters, Kathleen Lazere (Patrick Farabaugh), Loretto; Susan Lazere, OH; parents-in-law, Robert and Katherine Gottlied, Clinton, MD; sister-in-law, Linda Gottlied, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and goddaughter, Andrea. Janet was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, Ebensburg and a 1971 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she received a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. Upon graduation she began working at Walter Reed Army Hospital as a research assistant. Janet married the love of her life on May 18, 1985 and shortly after became a stay at home mom. She later returned to the work force as a bus aid for special needs children in Prince George’s County School District, Maryland. Janet was an avid reader and published author. She was a lifetime Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan, and saw her beloved Washington Nationals win a World Series in 2019. Nothing was more important to Janet than her family and friends, as she always stayed in touch near and far. Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 4-6 p.m., Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 6 p.m., the Very Rev. John Byrnes, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Janet’s memory to the POW/MIA Vietnam Veterans of American, VVA.org/donate.
