Fuhrman, Charles Barry, 77, Mount Union, passed away April 17, 2020 at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewistown. Born May 28, 1942, Fishing Creek Valley, Dauphin County, son of the late Martin and Maggie (Shaffer) Fuhrman. Preceded in death by siblings, Phillip Fuhrman and Martina Magaro. Survived by his loving wife, Carol A. (Sweigart); daughter, Dawn E. Burnham and husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Mary Burnham, all of Romsey, England; sister, Lilly Gerhart, Lykens; and Donald Fogal, Enola. Charlie served our country during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of the Mount Union American Legion Post 107. Charlie was a psychiatric nurse and was also a qualified hypnotherapist. He will be remembered for his wit and compassion as a psychiatric nurse. Charlie’s creativity was expressed through photography, writing, calligraphy, stained glass, visual art and design. He was commissioned to create a stained-glass window for the chapel at the Harrisburg State Hospital. He supported the Harrisburg Ballet and Harrisburg Community Theater Youth Company through his graphic design work including posters and t-shirts. Charlie enjoyed attending baseball games, theater, art, dance and music events. He loved martial arts and learned various forms and traditions. He had a love for learning and cherished the knowledge he read from his books. Most importantly he loved his family and was always there for people. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 100 S. Jefferson St., Mount Union, PA 17066. A private family viewing has already taken place. A visitation and memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment at Mount Union Cemetery.
