Summers, William P., 92, formerly of Bellwood and Orlando, Fla., passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born on January 30, 1927, son of Paul and Charlotte Summers. He married Lina Morrison, who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda. Surviving are a son, William Summers; three grandsons: Christian and Benjamin Bagley and Colton Noble; as well as sisters: Rose Marie Rozick of Tyrone, Ann Nesbella of Altoona and Kay Cory of Severna Park, Md. He graduated from Bellwood High School and later, the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in journalism. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. Bill lived in Orlando, Fla. for over 60 years, where he worked as a journalist for the Orlando Sentinel. During his career, he covered the Apollo 11 Moon Landing and was able to meet and interview many prominent people. An avid sports fan, he had an amazing recall of players' and games' statistics and plays. Throughout his life, Bill continued to keep up with Bellwood news and the people involved. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home for providing excellent care of Bill during the months preceding his death. A prayer service will be held for Bill at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, Tyrone.
