Kost, V. Gail, 92, Cresson, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Canterbury Place in Pittsburgh. She was born November 12, 1933, Kelly Station, Pa., daughter of the late Charles H. and Olga M. (Beck) Baker. Gail married Walter M. Kost and they shared 36 loving years together. She is preceded in death by her loving husband; oldest son, Anthony; sons-in-law, Jerry Gowans and David Mathiesen; and eleven siblings. Survived by her daughters, Pamela Gowans and Denise Kost, both of Pittsburgh, Lisa Mathiesen, Minnesota; sons, Jeffrey (John), Altoona, and Tracy (Shanon), Cresson; daughter-in-law, Jancie, Altoona; siblings, June Lawson, Judy (Jim) Hord, and Donald Baker; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by six of her greatest joys, her grandsons, Brian Kost and Adam Kost, of Altoona, Christian Mathiesen and Gregory Mathiesen of Minnesota, Michael (Kaiti) Kost, Maryland, and Jeremy (Emily) Kost, South Carolina. Gail was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cresson. She was an avid reader, enjoying romance and mystery novels. Gail also loved doing crafts, especially crocheting, knitting, and plastic canvases. She was a sports enthusiast for baseball, always cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates. Friends will be received Friday, January 9, 2026, from 3-7 p.m., Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cresson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson, Rev. Leo Arnone celebrant. Committal and entombment at St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery, Cresson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Macular Degeneration Research at Macular Degeneration Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, Md. 20871 or Family Hospice of Pittsburgh at Family Hospice Inpatient Unit Canterbury Place, 310 Fisk Street, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15201.
