Obituary

Mentzer, Thomas A., 79, Shirleysburg, passed away January 27, 2022 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Born January 6, 1943, Mount Union, son of the late Kenneth R. and Ilene F. (Swope) Mentzer. Preceded in death by two brothers Chris Beatty, infant brother Raymond, infant sister Melinda Mentzer and nephew Kenny Mentzer. Survived by his three daughters, Melinda L. Shumac, Brenda K. Mentzer, and Donna F. Cresswell, two step children, Brian N. Elliott and Linda D. Elliott, 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a brother; Kenneth L. Mentzer, 3 nieces: Pam, Susan, and Melissa Mentzer, and 3 nephews: Steve, Mike, and Bruce Mentzer.  Tom served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Norfolk Southern as a machinist. He enjoyed working on cars and tractors, riding motorcycles and 4 wheelers, playing guitar, old country music, NASCAR. He loved animals and also enjoyed helping people.  Friends and family will be received on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 11a.m. until the 1p.m. funeral service at the Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
