Stanley J. "Stush" Halerz

Halerz, Stanley J. "Stush", 79, Cresson, died Nov. 30, 2017, at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born Dec. 16, 1937, in Gallitzin, son of the late Stanley and Margaret (Vargo) Halerz. Preceded in death by wife, Betty (Plazek), who died Jan. 7, 2012; brothers, John, Steve, Paul, Joseph and Frank; and sister, Anna Gibson. Survived by children: Linda Beiswenger (Roger), Gallitzin; Leo (Sherry), Cresson; Mary McGarry (Denny), Newville; and Rick, Cresson; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and sisters: Theresa Rapski, Baltimore, Md.; Margie Decoskey; and Mary Shutty, both of Altoona. Retired as a warehouse manager at Niagara Plastics, Cresson. Liked gardening, watching football and lottery tickets. Member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Cresson. At request of deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Rev. Matthew Reese.
