Shirley M. Latterner

Latterner, Shirley M. (Owens), 86, Sankertown, passed away August 7, 2020 at UPMC Altoona. Born July 9, 1934, Altoona, daughter of the late Melvin C. and Hilda R. (Hazlett) Owens. Preceded in death by her daughters, Diana Swope and Kathy McGarry; brothers, Ray, Charles and Earl Owens; and sister, Bernice Hufford. Survived by her husband, James H. Latterner; daughter, Denise Gorba; son, Joseph Slebodnick; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed feeding her local birds, baking, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and watching her two favorite game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Most importantly, she was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family would like to thank the staff of the 14th Floor at UPMC Altoona for the wonderful care they showed Shirley. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the family will have a private viewing. Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 10 a.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson, Fr. Leo Arnone celebrant. Committal St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery, Cresson.
