Scott G. Atherton, 60, Alexandria, passed away February 14th, 2026, in his home. Born February 7th, 1966, in Beaufort, South Carolina, son of Glenn Scott Atherton and Patricia Morgan of Mount Union. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Atherton of Cedar Crest- and William “Bill” and Eve Morgan of Mount Union and nephew, Tyler Atherton of Mount Union. He is survived by his wife Jennifer Panella Atherton, 6 children, Claire, Julia, Jake, Benjamin, Luke and Sophie Atherton; brother Daniel Atherton and his wife Amanda and their 5 children; brother, Adam Atherton and his daughter. As well as many great nieces and nephews. Scott graduated from Mount Union in 1984 and served in the United States Army as Military Police for five years, earning the rank of Specialist. During that time, Scott earned the Expert Marksmanship in pistol and rifle. After an Honorable discharge, he became a Corrections Officer for many years at SCI Huntingdon Prison before retirement and became a security guard at Kunzler for the last 8 years. Scott loved hunting, fishing, collecting knives, his family and his dogs. He was funny, told great stories and always loved to talk to anyone. Friends and family will be received Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 4:00 – 8:00. Military Honors at 4:00 with a time of service at 8:00, Pastor Jim Barton, officiant.
