Russell Charles Martin Booher, 45, of Mount Union, passed away unexpectedly on June 18, 2026. Russell came into the world a little early and extra tiny, in the middle of a snowstorm on February 10, 1981. In many ways, he never left that moment behind. He grew into a man who carried a lifelong love for snow, embracing it with the same excitement and wonder that seemed to follow him through life. He was preceded in death by his father, Kerry Booher, and was survived by his mother, Suzanne Booher, who passed away just days after him. He was a brother to Angie (Bob) Vincent, Drena (Bob) Doran, Janay (Cory) Shaw, and Troy (Deb) Booher, along with many nieces and nephews. A bond that shaped so many of the memories and moments he treasured. Along the way, he was blessed with many mentors who helped steer him, each one leaving their mark on the man he became. He was deeply involved in and attended the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren. Russell had a way of finding joy in the simple things. Time spent with friends, shared laughter, and just being together. If there was a place to gather, Russell was happiest right there in the middle of it. He also loved working in his garden. During the growing season, you could always count on Russell to talk about how things were coming along. What was sprouting, what needed tending, and how everything was growing. It was something he genuinely enjoyed, a quiet pride he carried in planting and watching things grow. He was incredibly proud to be an Eagle Scout, carrying that accomplishment with him throughout his life. He was also a devoted member of the National Model Railroad Association. Russell found both community and creativity, working alongside his friends at the train club. He poured his heart into building displays, especially a vision that started right at home, recreating the familiar sights and stories of his own town. Sports were another part of who Russell was. He cheered for Jeff Gordon, followed Penn State football and the Pittsburgh Pirates. But there was no mistaking where his true loyalty lived. Russell was the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan you could ever meet. After every win, without fail, you would hear his voice ring out, “How ’bout them Cowboys?” Closer to home, his heart belonged to Mt. Union. Russell loved his work at the Mt. Union High School cafeteria, where he did far more than serve meals. He built connections. Talking with the athletes, encouraging them, cheering them on through every season. His love for Mt. Union sports was unmatched. He was, without question, one of the Trojan’s biggest fans. On Friday nights, you could hear the clang of his cowbell echoing through the stands. On the baseball field, his clapping carried across the diamond. Rain, cold, or snow, it never mattered. If there was a game, Russell was there. His rousing “Let’s Go Trojans” will be heard forever echoing in the distance. Friends and family are invited to gather and remember that spirit at a celebration of life on Wednesday, July 8th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Mt. Union High School Football Field.
