Varner, Ronald Lee, 73, Newton Hamilton, passed away February 4, 2022, at Penn Highlands, Huntingdon. Born March 1, 1948, in Perulack, Ronald was the son of the late James and May (Jones) Varner. Survived by loving wife, Helen Jean (Bass) Varner; children, Tonya Holsomback and husband, Jimmy; Ashlee Varner; and Amber Anderson and husband, Javan; 5 grandchildren, James Rhett Holsomback, Dean Ronald Holsomback, Blake Parker Anderson, Maddox Chase Anderson, and Walker Tate Anderson; brothers, Rev. Robert Varner and Roger Varner and wife, Bobbie. Ronald was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He attended Lee University and was a member of Alpha Gamma Chi. He was also a graduate of Shippensburg University. After working as a chemist, he dedicated his career to education, first as an exceptional chemistry teacher, and retiring as a successful principal at Indian Valley High School. He was a respected leader who served as a Sunday School teacher, school board member, and church council member. Relationships were important to him. He always made time for fun, family, and friends. Ronald loved people and was a life-changing advisor and confidante to many. He devoted every summer to traveling adventures with his grandsons. As a father and husband, he was the ultimate provider and protector. He gave selflessly without hesitation. In every aspect of his life, he served the Lord faithfully. Ronald was an irreplaceable mentor, friend, husband, and father who made life rich, fulfilling, deep and meaningful. He will be truly missed by all who interacted with him. Friends and family will be received on Thursday February 10, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon, at the funeral home, Rev. Robert Varner, and Rev. Javan Anderson, co-officiants.
