Whitsel, Robert A., 89, Cresson, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 9, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. Born June 2, 1936, Mill Creek, son of the late Alexander and Anna Mae (Hall) Whitsel. Robert is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Kay Kopera. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Nancy J. (Mayes) Whitsel, who he spent 66 wonderful years with. He is also survived by his daughter, Lois (David) Smith; son-in-law, Mark Kopera; grandchildren, Ashley Smith-Miller, Kristin (David) Zimmerman, and Gabriella Kopera; and two great-granddaughters, Allianna Detwiller and Emree Rose Miller. Robert was a proud United States Army veteran. His dedication to the military continued when he became a member of the Huntingdon American Legion Post 024. Robert worked for many years as a stonemason before becoming maintenance supervisor at the former state school and state prison in Cresson. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a member of various clubs and organizations, including the Lilly Sokols, Jaffa Shrine, and Freemasonry. Most importantly, Robert cherished spending time with his family. A private inurnment at Donation Cemetery, Donation, will take place at the convenience of the family.
