Obituary

Robert J. “Bob” Boozel went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 7, 2025. Born September 10, 1933, in Newton Hamilton, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Bilger) Boozel and one of 18 children. Two siblings, Freda Worthy and Gabby Boozel survive. He was Baptist in faith. He was united in marriage to Rachel Aurand on June 28, 1955, in Mount Union. Rachel survives at their home. Together Bob and Rachel have seven children, Cyndee Boozel, Debbe Spencer (husband Bruce), Bobbi Boozel (companion Corky), Michael Boozel, Scott Boozel, Lori Smith (husband Scott) and Kelly Boozel Whitsel. He was preceded in death by daughter Debbe, and sons, Michael and Scott. The blessings of grandchildren; Derrick Hobbs (wife Rose), Dana Parsons (husband Barry), Dave Briggs (wife Natalie), Denton Spencer, Kye Spencer, Candid Carper (husband Jason), Tiffany Sunderland, Janelle Grange, Michael Boozel (wife Holly), Anthony Boozel, Tanisha Frace (husband Rodney), Nikolas Smith, Emily Smith, Matthew Smith, Molly Smith, Leah Smith, Devin Whitsel (wife Natalie), Gage Whitsel (wife Taylor), Braden Hancock and Chase Sausman. He was also blessed with numerous great grandchildren. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was briefly stationed in Idaho where he earned his honorable discharge before moving his family back to the Newton Hamilton area (Vineyard). There he and Rachel built their home. He was then employed by the Mount Union Brickyard and later Mount Union Fiberglass where he later retired. Bob was, above all, a family man. An avid gardener, he grew most of the family’s food. He loved to fish and hunt and went as often as he could, dragging along any willing child or grandchild. His best fishing spots do, however, remain a mystery. He also won quite a few canoe races along the Juniata. Mushroom hunting was another favorite which he passed on to his grandkids. He spent many an hour at his grandchildren’s sporting events cheering and supporting them, always in the stands. He adored his family and words cannot convey how much he will be missed. Visitation will be held Friday, December 12, 2025, from 5:00 – 8:00 at the Heath-Anderson Funeral Home. Friends and family will also be received Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 9:00 until time of service at 10:30. Deion Miller officiant. Burial to follow at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E. Shirley Street, Mount Union, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care TM.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com.
