Rita L. Wilks

Wilks, Rita L. (Eberhart), 88, Cresson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg, PA.  Born June 8, 1931, she was the daughter of Lewis and Caroline Eberhart. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Paul, William, Janet, Donald, Lewis, Gerald, and infant brother, Patrick. She married Chief Warrant Officer Four, Benny H. Wilks, who preceded her in death in 2012. Rita is survived by her four children: Rebecca (Wilks) Tattrie, Henry "Skip" Wilks, Benny Wilks Jr., and Caroline Wilks; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel; and her nieces and nephews. Rita worked in many places including Washington, D.C., where she worked as a secretary for the comptroller in the US Navy and as executive secretary for Mar Jen Trucking Corporation; she also worked as the manager of Laurel Woods Mobile Home Community for many years. She enjoyed meeting all of the people she encountered at work throughout the years and mastered the computer with little effort. She enjoyed working for the trucking company and considered all of the drivers friends. She loved all flowers, and could often be found in the garden tending to them or digging in the dirt finding new places for them to thrive. She especially loved African Violets. Rita was an avid Pittsburgh Penguin and Steelers fan and always looked forward to watching the games. She loved to read and to cook both southern and northern foods, since Benny was from Vicksburg, Mississippi. Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 9:30 a.m., St. Aloysius Church, Rev. Leo Arnone, Celebrant.
