Richard Blair “Rick” Swartz, 78, of Piney Ridge Road, Huntingdon, passed away at his home on September 29, 2026, after a yearlong courageous battle with pancreatic cancer with his is devoted wife was by his side. Born June 27, 1948, the son of the late Matthew and Anne (Weinberg) Swartz. In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Joel and Esther; in-laws Samuel and Elsie Clippinger. Richard is survived by his wife, Mary (Clippinger) Swartz with whom he shared 35 years of marriage; son, Edward (Dawn) Swartz; grandchildren, Savannah Swartz, Rebecca Swartz, Alyssa Burfield; sister, Kathy (Jack) Schmidt Oakmont; three nieces; four great-grandchildren; and his beloved cat, Brodi. He was a 1966 graduate of Huntingdon Area Highschool and a lifelong resident of Huntingdon. Richard served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He subsequently owned and operated Matt’s Bar in Huntingdon for 36 years until the time of his retirement. He loved to play golf and can boast 3 holes in one. He also enjoyed playing cards with his card club friends. Rick loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. At Ricks request there will no public service. To honor his life, take the time to move a turtle that is crossing the road or do something kind for someone in need.
