Scott, Richard D. Sr., 85, the oldest living man in Shirleysburg, passed away on Monday August 18, 2025, at Embassy of Huntingdon Park. Born February 22, 1940, Rockhill, son of the late Donald and Mary (Campbell) Scott. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Beryl A. (Peterson) Scott. Also preceded by a son, Galen Scott Sr.; siblings, James Scott, Kay Whitsel, Beverly “Ann” Frehn, Gerald “Jud” Scott, and Larry Scott. He is survived by his children, Kenneth L. Scott and wife, Sue; Denise A. Wagner and husband, Curry; Myra L. Swanger and husband, Sonny; Richard D. Scott Jr.; and Coleen J. Scott; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings, Donald “Gene” Scott, Dennis "Denny" Scott, and Lois Lancaster. Richard attended Orbisonia High School. After school he honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 and from 1964 to 1968 in the National Guard, during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a block layer for Herb Hann before becoming employed with Fiberglas—where he retired. In his younger years he liked racing cars at the Hill Valley Speedway. Richard enjoyed watching Westerns and boxing on TV. Family and friends will be received on Friday August 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Salem Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
