Richard Allen Gergel

Gergel, Richard Allen, 77, Huntingdon, passed away Thursday June 6, 2024, at William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown, following a brief illness. Born October 3, 1946, Washington D.C., son of the late John M. Gergel Sr. and Susan (Svrcek). Survived by his loving wife, Susan J. (Quinn) Gergel; daughter, Deanne M. Kylor and husband, Travis; grandson, Devon Kylor and companion, Courtney; and brothers, John M. Gergel Jr., Robert Gergel, and Dennis Drake. Mr. Gergel was a 1964 graduate of Captain Jack High School. He honorably served his country in the Marine Corps during Vietnam. Mr. Gergel studied criminology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police after many years of service. He was a member of the Blue Juniata VFW Post 5754 and the Simpson Hunting American Legion Post 107. Mr. Gergel enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
