Raymond “Dip” Clinton Johnson, 79, of McVeytown, PA, passed away on August 18, 2026 with many beloved family members visiting him during his last week of life. Born on June 7, 1947, in Wayne Township, PA, he was the son of the late Harold Eugene Johnson and Virginia Hancock Johnson Price. He is survived by his children, Eric Walker and wife Vyvyan; Greg Johnson and wife Maxine; grandchildren, Gigi; Jonathan, Hanna, Haley, Noah, Wyatt, and many great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Lola Deforrest Johnson; oldest son, Terry Walker Jr.; grandson, Matthew Walker; and older siblings, William Johnson, Jerry Johnson, and James Johnson. Raymond was a 1965 graduate of Captain Jack High School and a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam War who worked many years as the Human Resources Director for the Huntingdon State Correctional Institution. An avid hunter, he tagged many deer in his younger years and was known to throw a lively party or two during hunting season with family and friends. As a self-taught carpenter and handyman, he enjoyed working on projects around the house, both big and small, and never turned down a request for help from his family, friends, and neighbors. A true Penn State football fan through and through, he attended many games over the years and never missed a televised game regardless of their success on the field. For over 20 years, Raymond persevered as a stroke survivor with the loving care of his wife, Lola, and the help of many wonderful caretakers at his home on Rhone Road and later at William Penn in Lewistown. During these years, he turned his focus to the simple joys in life and always looked forward to seeing family and friends, and making new friends as well. Many would attest to his warm greeting with a sparkle in his eye, a sincere handshake, a sly grin, and an infectious laugh that only stopped in his last days when he was no longer able. A memorial service will be held for close family at the Heath-Anderson Funeral Home in Mount Union, PA with interment to follow at Ryde Cemetery in Ryde, PA. To honor Raymond’s memory and his lifelong love for dogs, the family is asking that memorial contributions be made to the Huntingdon County Humane Society.
