Burkholder, Peter F., 79, Altoona, passed away June 11, 2021 at Maybrook Hills, Altoona. Born July 19, 1941, Lancaster, son of the late H. Clay and Catharine H. (Falck) Burkholder, Sr. Preceded in death by his brother, John “Nick” Burkholder. Survived by his loving wife, Patricia L. (Servello); children, Wendy Cannarsa and husband, Michael; Heather Kaspi and husband, Solomon; and Patrick Burkholder; 7 grandchildren, Solveig, Liam, Israel, Isaac, Sadie, Mads and Lasse; brother, H. Clay Burkholder, Jr. and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Rosamund Presby Burkholder; and special friend, Sue Ann Hess. Peter was a 1959 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Lancaster. During high school he was active in swimming and football. After graduation he attended Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster. In 1962, Peter enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed in Seoul, Korea through 1964, he was honorably discharged in 1968. Peter spent almost 40 years as the owner of Peter Burkholder Student Services, providing graduation supplies to high schools and colleges in PA and NY. After his retirement, he went to work for Fiore Toyota as a courtesy driver. Peter was a past president of the Blair Concert Chorale. He was an avid Penn State Football and Altoona Curve fan. Peter greatly enjoyed road trips near and far, U.S. history and the railroad. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 6 p.m., St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 806 13th St., Altoona, PA 16602, Rev. Kevin Barron, officiant. Family will receive friends and family one hour prior. Inurnment with military honors will take place Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:30 a.m., Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Memorial contributions’ may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
