Obituary

Peggie Ann Boozel, 72, of Mount Union, PA, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2026, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born December 25, 1953, in Huntingdon, daughter of the late Jerry Clark and Betty Louise (Fleck) Minnick. One brother, Mark David, preceded her in death. Peggie was united in marriage to Leroy J. “Dooney” Boozel, Jr. on July 12, 1980, where they shared 45 beautiful years together. In addition to her husband, Peggie is survived by sister, Jeri E. Minnick-Dukes wife of Michael; nephews, Antony Arzamendi, Vincent Arzamendi, David Leidy, Jr.; one special niece Tammy J. Vaughn wife of Shawn. Peggie was a proud graduate of the Mount Union Area High School. She then continued her education at Penn State University where she graduated in 1975 with a B.S. in Music Education. Throughout her life, she shared her love of music, live theater, and Broadway musicals. She was a dedicated educator at Mount Union Area High School, teaching countless students and inspiring a lifelong appreciation for learning and creativity. Peggie had a deep love for travel and found special joy in visiting Hawaii, even taking her students on field trips on occasion to show them the life outside of Huntingdon County. She saw the good in everyone she met and extended that same care and encouragement to the adults she taught in GED classes, offering not only education but hope and confidence. In addition to her work in the classroom, she served as a piano and choir teacher at her Mount Union Presbyterian Church, where her faith and musical talents beautifully intertwined. A devout Christian, she lived her life guided by compassion, generosity, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of others. Her favorite flower was the daisy, a reflection of her bright spirit and gentle nature. She also cherished her beloved dogs, Hank and Jake, “the demon,” who were constant companions and brought her endless joy. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Mount Union Presbyterian Church, 2 E. Shirley St. Mount Union, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 with Rev. Beverly Skopic officiating. Those who wish may send donations to CHAMP 2400 Cassady Ave, Suite 2, Huntingdon, PA 16652. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E. Shirley Street, Mount Union, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care TM.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com
