Smeal, Paul Kevin, 68, Mount Union, passed away Friday April 26, 2024, in Mechanicsburg. Born October 1, 1955, Johnstown, son of the late Charles T. Smeal and Clara B. Lambert Smeal Satterlee. Survived by his loving wife, Shirley Moore Smeal; and son, Raymond Johnson (Tara); 3 grandchildren, Raya Alyn, Kainen Kevalle, and Laylah Kacylle Johnson; siblings, Dr. Janis Smeal (Mill); and Carl Satterlee III (Deanna); and special nieces and nephew, Phil, Zoe and Monica; and  numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by a grandson, Blake Aaron Johnson. Mr. Smeal honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He received his B.S. in Criminal Justice from the Pennsylvania State University and his M.S. in Political Science from Widener University. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections SCI Smithfield where he served as the Superintendent. Mr. Smeal was also the CEO of he and his wife Shirley’s family business, Paul & Shirley’s Shipping Company and the secretary/treasurer of the Carmella Condominium Association. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Mr. Smeal enjoyed camping, woodworking, playing poker with his buddies, reading, creating Lego sculptures, and traveling. “On the Road Again” undoubtedly described his favorite pastime. He loved to help his son with diesel mechanics and restoring toys for his grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Saturday May 4, 2024, from 9:30a.m. until the time of service at 11:30a.m. at the funeral home, Rev. Sylvia Morris and Chaplain Tony McMillan, officiants. Interment with full military honors to follow at the Mount Union Cemetery.
