Nancy Joan Layaou

Layaou, Nancy Joan (Noel), 84, Cresson, died peacefully at home Friday, January 27, 2023. Born December 3, 1938, Cresson, daughter of the late William L. and Agnes A. (Parrish) Noel. Preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, James E. Layaou; son, Carl F. Saksa, Jr.; two brothers, John J. Noel and Francis J. Noel Jr.; and her former husband, Carl F. Saksa, Sr. Survived by her children, John Saksa of Airville; Jill (Dennis) Hancock of Belle, W. Va; Beth (Scott) Wood of Charlotte, N.C.; and Nancy Jo Saksa of Cresson; six grandchildren: John Saksa, Brady Saksa, Franklin Johnson, Mariah (Kody) Young, Carson Turner and Kate Turner; three great-grandchildren: Khloe, Luna, and Kohen; sister, Rebecca Dunmyer; a special cousin, Paula Mitchell; a beloved niece, Jean Dunmyer; and a lifetime best friend, Dottie Bittner. Nancy was a devoted mother who enjoyed laughter and games, especially cards with family and friends. During her career as an Executive Secretary, the highlight was working for NASA during the era of Space Station Freedom, which later became the International Space Station. The family would like to express special thanks to Mary Jo Fitzsimmons and AseraCare Hospice. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 10 a.m., St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson, Rev. Leo Arnone celebrant.
