McGarry, Mona Lynn, 75, Winder, Ga., formerly of Cresson, passed away February 27, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Braselton, Ga., surrounded by her family. Born December 23, 1947, Johnstown, daughter of the late Quentin and Marguerite (Lees) Cooper. Preceded in death by her grandson, Francis McGarry. Survived by her loving husband, Arnold E. McGarry, whom she married on July 22, 1967 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson; sons, Arnold C. McGarry and wife Carrie; and Kevin J. McGarry; four grandchildren: Alex, Gavin, Samantha and Wyatt McGarry; and siblings, Marla Ann O’Neill and husband Patrick; and William Cooper and wife Debra. Mona Lynn retired as a supervisor with HealthSouth Rehabilitation. She was a natural caregiver who loved unconditionally and was always there when her family needed her. She loved to shop and was always up for the challenge of finding the hot item on Black Friday. Mona Lynn loved going to festivals with her mom and sister any chance they could. She loved surprising everyone with little gifts as part of her love language. Mona Lynn loved to plant flowers or blooming bushes and had a large indoor house plant collection as well. She would make weekly runs to Michael’s to stock up on crafts for when her grandchildren would come over. She would always make you feel welcome and wanted her house filled with family. Mona Lynn loved having her house decorated for the holidays. She loved Christmas and it wasn’t a surprise if the tree was still up in April. She would make door wreaths for each holiday for herself and her family. Having two boys who brought video games into the house, there wasn’t anyone that could beat mom at Atari Asteroids. Mona Lynn had a special love for dogs. She always had her pack around her at home and many grand pups. She also volunteered and supported Pup & Cat Co. rescue in Georgia for years. The four pups they have at the time of her passing all came from the rescue. Friends and family will be received Monday, March 13, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services. A funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following the viewing at 1 p.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, Rev. Leo Arnone Celebrant. Committal St. Francis Cemetery, Cresson.
