Mary E. Vaughn, 74, Allentown, passed away on April 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born May 6, 1951, daughter of the late Amon and Essie (Harris) Vaughn. Mary is survived by brothers, Robert (Julia) Vaughn, James “Butchie” (Phyllis) Vaughn, Samuel (Liann) Vaughn, Fernando Vaughn; sisters, Shirley Cook, and Edith Berry. A 1969 graduate of Mount Union Area High School, she proudly served her country as a member of the United States Army. Following her military service, she continued her education at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and later attended Duff’s Business Institute in Pittsburgh. She devoted much of her professional life to public service. She worked for 25 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where she was respected for her dedication and professionalism. Following that career, she served for 10 years as a senior examiner with probation review until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and loved making flower arrangements, collecting elephant figurines, traveling, and spending time partying and celebrating with friends and family. Over the years, she lived in several places she enjoyed, including four years in Kernersville, NC, and time in upstate New York, before spending the last four years of her life in Allentown. A Memorial Service will be held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 16 Grant St, Mt Union on May 16, 2026, at 1:00. Rev. Dr. Renita Green, Officiant. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, "Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care™."
