Kumpf, Mark William, 63, Mount Union, passed away on Wednesday September 13, 2023, at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with illness. Born April 28, 1960, Altoona, son of the late Leo and Mary (Berndt) Kumpf. Survived by his loving wife, Audrey (Ehouse) Kumpf; daughter, Briana Cheyenne Kumpf and companion, Paul; 3 grandchildren, Aiden Carolus, Aliyah Kumpf, and Ayson Kumpf; siblings, Melody Komir and husband, Michael; Guy Kumpf and wife, Nancy; and Mary Jo Longmore and husband, Mike; daughter-in-law, Ashley (Ranck) Kumpf; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by a son, Alan M. Kumpf. Mark was a 1978 graduate of Mount Union Area High School. He honorably served in the United States Coast Guard. Mark was a social member of the Blue Juniata VFW Post 5754 and the Simpson Hunt American Legion Post 107—where he was the commander of the Sons of the American Legion for over 20 years. Mark worked at Mead before becoming a self-employed painter. He went on to retire from SCI Rockview as their painting instructor. Mark was a certified pyrotechnician with Starduster Pyrotechnics and looked forward to putting on community firework displays. He was a martial artist and was a 3rd degree black belt with the rank of Sensei. Mark enjoyed golfing, playing pool, watching the Steelers and Penn State football, and his Sunday card games with the guys. A celebration of life will be held later at the convenience of the family.
