Burgess, Margaret G., passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101. Born April 1, 1924, in Palmerton, daughter of the late James and Margaret (Williams) Fleming. Peg was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Stanley Burgess and a dedicated mother to her son, Bruce Burgess. She was a progressive and engaged thinker, a devoted mother, and a cherished keeper of her family’s history and lore. Peg’s unwavering love and the countless sacrifices she made for Bruce were a testament to her strength, resilience, and boundless devotion as a mother. She gave her all to ensure he had the best care and opportunities, embodying the true meaning of unconditional love. Peg had a lifelong passion for genealogy and preserving her family’s rich history. Her love for storytelling and her commitment to honoring the past made her the heart of her family’s legacy, ensuring that the stories of those who came before her would never be forgotten. During World War II, Peg served her country with pride and compassion as a nurse in the United Stated Navy, embodying strength and selflessness in a time of great need. Her service was a reflection of her unwavering dedication to helping others and making a difference in the lives of those around her. Peg will be remembered for her sharp mind, her kind heart, and her enduring curiosity about the world and her family’s place within it. Above all, she will be remembered for the sacrifices she made and the love she gave to those who mattered most to her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. At Peg’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peg’s memory may be made to the First Methodist Church of Huntingdon or the Huntingdon County Humane Society.
