Rutter, Mabel Larue (Harshbarger), 87, formerly of Newton Hamilton, passed away Monday January 15, 2024, at Embassy at Woodland Park, Orbisonia. Born August 5, 1936, Huntingdon, daughter of the late Lester and Effie Harshbarger. Preceded in death by her husband, Mccelland “Kelly” Rutter, who passed away in March of 2021. Also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maranda Rutter; and infant sister, Charlene Harshbarger. Survived by children, William Martin; Wayne Martin and wife Michelle, Mount Union; David Rutter and wife Sherri, McVeytown; Tammy Grissinger, Clearfield; and Randy Rutter and wife Melissa, Mattawana; 10 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Blair Harshbarger and wife Mary Ruth; Marvin Harshbarger; and Blain Harshbarger. Mabel was a 1954 graduate of Mount Union High School. After school she proudly served in the United States Air Force. Mabel was then employed at U.S. Sports in Huntingdon. Mabel attended the Pentecostal Freedom Church, Mount Union. She was a member of the Allenport Lions Club for many years. Mabel enjoyed sitting on her porch and watching the Juniata River. She liked doing puzzles and attending church. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends—especially her neighbor Melody Kane. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday January 17, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on January 18, 2024, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon, at the funeral home, Pastor Rich Hamman, officiant. Interment to follow at the Mount Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pentecostal Freedom Church, 14779 Croghan Pike, Mount Union, PA 17066. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
