Mabel E. Foster

Foster, Mabel E. (Davis), 100, formerly of Newton Hamilton, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born July 1, 1922, Mifflintown, daughter of the late Ralph E. and Emma F. (Bard) Davis. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Chester F. Foster and grandchildren, Jennifer Elizabeth Knepp and Madison Foster. Survived by son, Robert R. Foster and wife, Brenda; daughter, Cynthia (Foster) Knepp and husband, Dennis; 4 grandchildren, Robert R. Foster Jr. and wife, Alison; Terry L. Foster and wife, Dawn; Ryan D. Knepp and wife, Holly; and Carrie E. Knepp; and 9 great grandchildren. Mabel was a life-long member of the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church. She was a 1940 graduate of Mount Union Area High School and a graduate of the Nursing Program at the State Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. Over her lifetime she worked at the Grief Sewing Factory in Mount Union and at the Shirleysburg and Newton Hamilton Post Offices. Mabel enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed taking bus trips and attending the Atkinson Mills Senior Center with her dear friend Flora Glasgow. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment at the Mapleton I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Mabel’s honor to the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church, 176 Church St, Newton Hamilton, PA 17075.
