Edgin, Lester D., 78, Mount Union, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2019. Born on November 19, 1940, Mount Union, son of the late ­­­Chalmer R. and Minerva (Crone) Edgin. Preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters, Lenora, Robert, Mary, Elwood, Arthur, Clair, Jean, and Helen. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda J. (Norris) Edgin with whom he was united in marriage with on July 5, 1969; children, Chalmer R. Edgin II and wife, Peko; Renee L. Watkins and husband, Michael; and DeWayne D. Edgin and wife, Crystal; nine grandchildren, Vanessa, Christopher, Caleb, Chelsea, Alexis, Colton, Payton, Pamela, and Dylan; an expecting great-grandchild in October of 2019; and brothers, Kenneth (Ben), Ned, and Glenn. Lester has been a school bus driver and contractor for Mount Union Area School District since 1961. Additionally, he owned and operated the Edgin Family Farm. For seven years of his life, Lester served our country in the US Army National Guard. Lester was also employed at the Visco in Lewistown. Along with his wife, Lester was the owner and operator of L&L Campground. He is a 50-year member of Mount Union Lodge #688 F&AM and was also a member of Valley of Harrisburg A.A.S.R. and Jaffa Shrine. In his spare time, he loved to be with his grandchildren along with his beloved dog, Maxi. Lester and Linda would dedicate their time to conversing with their treasured friends and family in the campsite. Lester will be greatly missed. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 9-11 a.m. at Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 East Shirley St., where a Masonic Service will be conducted by the Mount Union Lodge #688 at 10:30 a.m. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Otelia Mennonite Church, Pastor Dewayn Isaac and Roy “Sonny” Yoder, co-officiating. Committal, Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. Family invites everyone to the Newton Wayne Firehall for a light reception immediately following the services.
