Obituary

Smith, Larry D., 85, Shirleysburg, passed away at home on December 24, 2025. He was born October 21, 1940, the son of the late Dalmas E. Smith and Annabelle (Carter) Smith and grew up in Kistler. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage at their home in Shirleysburg; his daughter and pride and joy, Heather Smith; his sister Barbara (Clint) Myers; sister-in-law, Ella Grace Smith; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Ronald “Pete” Smith. Larry retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass in Huntingdon after 38 years of service. He loved sports, especially the New York Yankees. In his younger years he enjoyed fox hunting alongside his father, as well as fly fishing, spring gobbler hunting and shooting matches. In recent years, he cherished camping in Heather’s RV. A reserved and quiet man, Larry was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many. He was a member of the Shirleysburg United Methodist Church, he loved the Lord and was ready to meet Jesus. Friends and Family will be received Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 5:00- 8:00 in the Heath-Anderson Funeral Home and Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 10:00 - 11:00 with a service at 11:00, Pastor Faith Anderson, officiant.
