Kevin S. Wharton

Wharton, Kevin Sherwood, 62, Lewistown, passed away Thursday August 28, 2025, at home. Born October 12, 1962, Orbisonia, son of the late Sherwood J. and Margaret M. (O’Rourke) Wharton. Preceded in death by brothers, Michael Wharton, Snellville GA; and Bartley Wharton, Westminster MD. Survived by sisters, Margaret Love and husband Ken, Mechanicsburg PA; Maureen Olson and husband Roger, Sykesville MD; and Kathleen Lantz and husband Randy, McVeytown PA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Wharton was a 1980 graduate of Mount Union Area High School. After school he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps where he served 2 tours and obtained the rank of Sargeant. Mr. Wharton then went on to graduate from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He would work as a York City Police Officer before retiring as a Parole Officer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Wharton loved his family, God and country. He was a military history buff and loved camping and being outdoors. He was most proud of being a U.S. Marine and truly lived the Corps moto of “Semper Fidelis” remaining always faithful to his country and fellow Marines.
