Obituary

Joy A. Carter, 84, of McVeytown, passed away on October 31, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born November 7, 1941, daughter of the late James and Virginia (Young) Peck. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter is predeceased by her husband Carl M. Carter, Sr.; her companion, Ralph Keiser; sons, Matt Carter, Carl Carter, Jr; brothers, William Peck, David Peck, Charles Peck; and sons-in-law, Wilmer Jury, and Calvin Forshey. Mrs. Carter is survived by her sons, Mike (Leslie) Carter, Ryan Carter, Larry Carter; daughters, Jen (Cliff) Kellenberger, Cindy (Randal) Hesser, Tammy Jury, Sandy Forshey; brothers, Samuel Peck, Timothy Peck; sisters, Darlene Roles, Deborah Walter; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a talented artist who found great joy in expressing herself through painting, primarily working with acrylics. She was a proud member of the Art Guild of Mount Union, where she shared her love and appreciation for the arts. Outside of her painting, she enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking, and taking trail wagon rides. She also enjoyed watching Shepherd’s Chapel, cooking, and cheering on her favorite teams, Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. The memories made with those she loved most will forever be treasured, and she will be remembered for her creativity, her many interests, and the love she shared with her family. At her request there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care™.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com.
