Joseph P. McConnell

McConnell, Joseph P., 66, Arnold, formerly of Cresson, died Sept. 14, 2015, in Nicktown. Born April 10, 1949, in Altoona, son of the late Oscar and Mary Rita (Farabaugh) McConnell. Preceded in death by brothers, Ronald and Paul Frederic; sisters, Joan Stolarski and Patricia Vermeulin; and sister-in-law, Donna (Law) McConnell. Survived by siblings: Francis (Pat), Jersey Shore, Pa.; Peggy Jasper (Donnie), Gallitzin; Oscar T. (Nancy), Loretto; and Richard (Sandy), Nicktown; and brothers-in-law, Pete Stolarski, Cresson; and Richard Vermeulin, Portage; and many nieces and nephews. Retired on April 30, 2015 as a purchasing agent for Jennmar Corp., Pittsburgh, after 40 years of service. Past member of Cresson Area Jaycees. Joe was an avid Penn State, Steelers, and Penguins fan, and he liked to fish. Family and friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson, Rev. Paul M. Robine.
