John R. Tennis

Tennis, John R., 82, Frenchville, PA, passed away at Heritage Ridge Senior Living in Philipsburg on August 13, 2025. Born July 8, 1943, son of the late George and Mary (Schirm) Tennis. He is also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Tennis. Survived by his loving lifelong partner for over 25 years, Dorothy H. Smith. Also survived by his son, Michael Tennis; stepchildren, Shannon Gornik and Ronald Smith; sister, Connie Reihart; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. John graduated from Juniata Valley High School in 1961 and in 1964 he graduated from The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades. He worked as a mason for many years before starting his own company, John’s Home Improvements. John enjoyed watching trains in his spare time and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Army Reserve. Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
