John "Pete" Rickens

Rickens, John Peter "Pete", 56, Cresson, passed away at his home in Sankertown on November 30, 2019. Born May 15, 1963, Rapid City, SD, son of Robert W. and Janet E. (Moran) Rickens. Preceded in death by his father; and Joe and Craig Baum, whom he cared for. Survived by his mother; children, Amber Rickens (Jason K.), Jason Rickens (Becca D.) and Sarah Smith (Steve); six grandchildren, Kaylee, Aubree and Bailee Rickens, Addison, Dylan and Aiden Smith; siblings, Robert Rickens Jr. (Melissa), Mary Lynn Adams (Randy), Julia Stantello (Ron) and Michelle Rickens-Atkins (Chris); several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins; and very special friends, Mary Estep and Alyssa Rickens. Pete was a former employee of community resources for Independence and Cambria Care Center. He was a lifetime Auxiliary member of the Sankertown VFW post 7377; member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 238, Cresson Knights of Columbus St Ann's Council 4259 and 4th degree member of Prince Gallitzin Assembly 0919. He was avid football fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Pete enjoyed NASCAR, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, refereeing for Angel Tree and attending his grandchildren’s events. He will be known for his love of people and always there for anyone in need. He always loved spending time with his mother, children, grandchildren, and with his extended family, The Jaspers. Friends and family will be received December 4, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. and December 5, 2019 from 2-8 p.m., Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Mass will be celebrated on December 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, Rev. Leo Arnone, celebrant. Interment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the funeral home to help defer expenses.
