Fara, John J., 85, Cresson, died May 23, 2015, at UPMC-Altoona. Born April 26, 1930, in Cresson, son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Gardner) Fara. Preceded in death by wife, Janet (Lewis); son, Kevin; brother, Joseph; and sisters, Elizabeth Wilt, Santina Glass and Alice Affleck. Survived by daughters: Cindy Sheridan (Pat), Cresson; and Sandy Lingafelt (Mark), Altoona; grandchildren: Justin Sheridan (Kristen King), Chicago, Illinois; Ryan, Jersey City, New Jersey; Keith, Seattle, Wash.; Eric, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Rhiannon Stager (James), Ebensburg; Kimberly Sheridan, Cresson; Colin Lingafelt, and Evan Lingafelt, both of Altoona; and great-grandchildren: Payton and Brooks Sheridan; and Finley Stager. John retired as a machinist with F. L. Smith Company, Altoona. After that, he worked as a custodian at Penn Cambria High School, Cresson for 10 years, and then as a greeter at WalMart, Ebensburg, for 10 years. Member of St. Aloysius Parish, Cresson. Liked to travel, hunt, fish and garden. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Church, Very Rev. Father John D. Byrnes. Committal, Amsbry Cemetery. www.cmkennedyfh.com
