IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John "Barney" J.
Ellis
April 10, 1956 – January 24, 2026
John “Barney” J. Ellis, 69, Huntingdon, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife, Christine (Swanger) Ellis, by his side. Born in Huntingdon, son of the late Maryella M. Wolfe. Mr. Ellis is also predeceased by one brother, Terry Barnhart. In addition to his wife, Barney is survived by son, Donald (Kim) Ellis; stepson, Chet Miller; stepdaughter, Christy (Greg) Billet; granddaughters, Allessia Ellis, McKenzia Ellis; step grandson, Jaegger Billet, Jaedylan Billet, Gregory Billet; great-granddaughter Aria; brothers, Dick (Kathy) Barnhart, Donny Barnhart; and sister-in-law, Betty Barnhart. Barney worked for Dilling & Haller for 22 years and Goodman’s until his retirement in 1999. He was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures and shared that joy freely with those around him. A devoted fan of NFL football and Penn State football, he rarely missed a game and could always be found cheering for the Steelers. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, following the races with enthusiasm and excitement. He had a special appreciation for the little things, often spending time watching the critters in his yard. Traveling was one of his greatest joys, especially trips to Virginia Beach and Niagara Falls, places that held many happy memories for him. Known as a prankster, he loved to make people laugh and bring smiles to those around him. Beneath his playful spirit was a truly good-hearted man—kind, caring, and always thinking of others. His generosity and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E. Shirley Street, Mount Union, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care TM.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com
