Leap, Joanne, 92, Lilly, passed away Tuesday November 16, 2021 at the Allegheny Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. Born June 17, 1929, Lilly, daughter of Clarence M. and Zeta V. (Aurandt) Leap. Preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Harold Leap; sisters, Jane Tortoriello, Mary Lou Shroder; Fritzi Knapp; brothers-in-law, Torchy Tortoriello, Rex Shroder, Vick Knapp and Jerry Glass; and companion, Helen Sopchak. Survived by her sister, Phyllis “Peaches” Glass, who is the last surviving member of her immediate family; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joanne was born and raised in Lilly. After serving in the US Marine Corps, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Joanne had a successful career with O’Bryan Bros. as a switchboard operator. She returned to the area to live in Cresson at the Laurel Village Trailer Court for 13 years. Joanne was a devout Lutheran and rejoined her hometown church of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Cresson American Legion Post 238 Ladies Auxiliary and the GBU in Lilly. Friends and family will be received Friday, November 19, 2021 from 4-7 p.m., Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11 a.m., St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 604 Cleveland St., Lilly, Pastor Walter Startzel officiant. Burial Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or Lilly-Washington War Memorial Association.
