Rowe, Joan A. (Maines), 95, Hares Valley Road Mapleton Depot, went to be with the Lord on Sunday July 27, 2025, at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born June 13, 1930, Woodland PA, daughter of the late John Maines and Mable (Ogden) Dell. Preceded in death by her loving husband, George F. Rowe, whom she married on June 16, 1948. Also preceded by a son, John B. Rowe; grandson, Frank Hower; and a brother, Lee Maines. Survived by children, Darlene R. Morgan and James A. Rowe; 6 grandchildren, John E. Rowe, Cindy Rowe, Paul Rowe, Angie Belkin, J.R. Rowe, and Jessica Colby; 10 great grandchildren, Jesse, Jacob, Zachary, Wyant, Westin, Gracie, Matthew, Jacob, Rowen, and Everett; and 6 great great grandchildren, Deegan, Ollie, Rosie, Jackson, Hudson and Eve; and a daughters-in-law, Carolyn Rowe and Gale Rowe. Mrs. Rowe was employed at Grice Sewing Factory for over 20 years and later as a waitress at Top’s Diner for 35 years—finally retiring at the age of 85. She loved all animals but especially horses and dogs. Mrs. Rowe raised and showed horses until she was 80 years old, staying and showing at the Huntingdon County Fair for many decades. She was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, Wood Valley Wranglers, and the Huntingdon Horsemen. In her free time, she enjoyed swimming. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Thursday July 31, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home, and again on Friday August 1, 2025, from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, 14918 Hares Valley Rd, Mapleton, PA 17052, Pastor’s Steve Keim and Connie Maclay, officiants. Interment to follow at Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, Smith Valley. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Beech Run Church of the Brethren.
