James J. "Jim" Weise

Weise, James J. "Jim", 88, Merritt Island, Florida, passed away February 14, 2016, at his home, following a short, acute illness. Born Dec. 31, 1927, in Altoona, the fourth of six children of Charles A. and Regina M. (Miller) Weise. Preceded in death by sisters, Marguerite Latterner and Florence Kirby; and brothers, Charles F. "Chick" and Timothy R. Weise, all formerly of Cresson. Survived by wife, Barbara A. (Campbell), whom he married in 1954, after they met while both were serving in the U.S. Navy at Pensacola, Florida; two sons: Stephen, Merritt Island; and James Jr., North Carolina; and sister, Miriam Stoltz, Cresson. Jim was a graduate of Cresson High School. He enjoyed his 1927 Model T Ford, as did many of his high school friends, and he never passed up an opportunity for devilment or a good prank. Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled in undergraduate studies for two years at Penn State, Altoona. Navy veteran, having served stateside in Pensacola, from 1952 -1956. There he met and fell in love with his future wife. They both loved the Southern climate and decided then that that was where they wanted to settle. They lived 3 miles from Cape Canaveral and witnessed most, if not all of the space shuttles. He was self-employed in home improvements and was well liked and respected by all who knew him. He made many friends and business acquaintances because of his never-ending sense of humor and his reliability.A jack of all trades, he was very successful in doing home improvements for clients and providing for his family. At the request of the deceased, there was no viewing or services in Florida. A Mass will be offered for the repose of Jim's soul, on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at 8: 00 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson, requested by his family. www.cmkennedyfh.com
