Leleck Sr., James, 91, Cresson, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 25, 2024. He is survived by his devoted wife, Catherine (Kasecky) to whom he was married for 63 years. He was the proud father of Cheryl, Jim Jr. (Sue), Michael (Stacey), and Tom. A devoted grandfather to Jim (Colleen), Jesika (Sean), Ryan, Erin (Jeremy), Caitlin (Eric), Thomas (Olivia), Matthew, and Evan. Also, a devoted great grandfather to Lucas, Quinn, Julia, Vivian, Julian and Noah. Also, he is survived by step-grandchildren, Shyloh and Alexis; and step-great grandchildren, Blayrie and Madysyn. Lastly, he is survived by his brother, John. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Sophia and Peter Leleck and the following siblings: Anna, Mary, George, Peter, Helen, and Charlie. Also, by his son-in-law, Vince Hogan. Jim was born on October 17, 1932 in Vitondale, Pennsylvania. He attended Vitondale High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Military in the branches of the Army and Navy. He served in the 8th Army at the 38th Parallel in the Korean War. His family is very proud of him for honorably serving his country. Jim retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 1978 after holding many positions in the Federal government. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, going for walks, and doing landscaping. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a great conversationalist and always seemed to know someone no matter where his trips took him. He was well traveled and had many enjoyable stories to share about his excursions. His family brought him the greatest happiness. He was the father who always was there for his children and grandchildren. Attending all the special events in their lives. They could count on him to always lend a hand and solve any problem. He enjoyed eating great food and celebrating the holidays and keeping family traditions. His family’s hearts are full of both joy for having him in their lives for so many years and sorrow for the immense loss of his presence. The family welcomes you to join them for a viewing of their beloved Jim, Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 2-7 p.m., Anderson Family Funeral Home, 233 Keystone Ave., CressonA celebration of his life and funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 1020 Caroline St., Nanty Glo, Fr. Leonard E. Voyteck celebrant. Military honors will be provided by the Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW and other local military organizations. Private burial will take place at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery, Ebensburg. The family is grateful for the exceptional care provided by Abby, Sally, and Melanie from Windber Hospice. As well as his care giver Yvonne Galen. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you may consider making donations to the Windber Hospice in Jim’s memory.
