James Madison Wright, also known as "Jimmy", passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Penn Highlands Tyrone Hospital. Born December 13, 1932, in Huntingdon, PA, he was raised by his father, Quay S. Wright and housekeeper, Nettie Martin. He was the last member of his immediate family, preceded in death by his father, survived only by cousins and friends. Jimmy attended Huntingdon area schools, graduating in 1950, from HHS in the academic course. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Era in the 3500th Air Police Squadron and received the National Defense Service Medal during that time. After receiving an honorable discharge, Jimmy relocated to Lockport, NY where he was employed by General Motors for 6 years. He then returned to Huntingdon, PA and worked 25 years for ELCO until his retirement. Jimmy also served with the Huntingdon Hook and Ladder Fire Co for 30 years. During his high-school years, Jimmy was a member of the baseball team and he remained an avid supporter of local HAHS and JC games regularly. He was an avid car enthusiast, known around town for his 1985 gold Chevrolet Monte Carlo, that he drove for 25 yrs. He was a lunch regular at the downtown OIP and Donna's Restaurant. Although Jimmy was a very private person, he was also quite social, striking up and enjoying conversation with folks just about anywhere he went.
