Sunderland, Helen M. (Rhodes) “Toods”, 80, McVeytown, passed away Thursday April 9, 2025, at home. Born January 22, 1945, Mifflin County, daughter of the late Melvin and Madeline (Himes) Rhodes. Preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Sunderland; and siblings, Paul, James, Bruce, Donald, Lewis, Lorma and Betty. Survived by her children, Betty “Girt” Boozel and husband, Brian; Melvin Paul Sunderland and wife, Sheila; and Jesse Sunderland and wife, Kim; 11 grandchildren, Daphne Miller and husband, Ben; Cassondra “CJ” Sell; Jesica Chilcote and fiancé, David; Helena Sunderland, Ashley Sunderland, Erica Walker, Ethan Miller, Grace Miller, Lance Miller, Mallory Downes and Benton Hancock; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; and a brother, Alvin “Bubble” Rhodes. Helen enjoyed traveling to the beach and visiting lighthouses. She liked mowing her grass and fishing. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends. Friends and family will be received on Thursday April 17, 2025, for a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 12 noon, at the funeral home.
