Obituary

Estep, Harold Samuel Jr., 91, Mount Union, passed away on November 13, 2025, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Born September 25, 1934, Huntingdon, son of the late Harold S. Estep, Sr. and Anna (Svrcek) Estep. Mr. Estep was united in marriage to Nancy Lee (Shoop) Estep until her death in 1981. He later married Nellie Jaymes who also preceded him in death. Mr. Estep is additionally preceded in death by stepdaughter Jody, and sister, Donna Shickling. Mr. Estep is survived by daughter Susan (John) Zaludek; sons J. Michael Estep, James A. (Lisa) Estep; stepchildren Jennifer, Jeff; grandsons Tim (Brenda) Zaludek, Stefan Morgan, Samuel Estep, Aaron Estep; granddaughters Kristin Zaludek, Sara (Claire) Estep, Stacy Estep-Klouser; great-grandsons Dominic, Wyatt, Bryce, Nathan, Alan, Theo, Leighton, Tatum; great-granddaughters Kiara, Kendra, Cadence, Amity, Olivia, Riley; and Maggie Jacka, his girlfriend, and dear friend of the family. Mr. Estep graduated from Captain Jack class of 1952. During Mr. Estep’s lifetime he proudly held the position of Superintendent of the Mount Union Area School District, where he later retired. Mr. Estep graduated from Shippensburg University where he earned his bachelor's degree in biochemistry. He later attended Temple University where he earned his master’s degree in administration. Mr. Estep taught 8th grade science at Mount Union, he served as Curriculum Director in Oil City and was Superintendent in Berwick. Mr. Estep also taught biology at Princeton N.J. Highschool. Outside of his pursuit of education Mr. Estep was an avid hunter and fisherman and was also a member of the local Lions Club and the Mount Union Presbyterian Church. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Services for Mr. Estep are private and at the request of the family.
