McGuire, Gerard F., 72, Cresson, went home to be with the Lord May 19, 2019 at UPMC Altoona. Born May 17, 1947, Altoona, son of the late Francis and Hilda (Strawmyer) McGuire. Preceded in death by grandson, Maxwell McGuire; sister, Jane McClellan; brothers, Harry and Tim McGuire; niece, Christa McClellan; and nephews, Jamy Markovich and Jason Eger. Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bernadette F. (Eger); sons, G.T. McGuire and wife, Holly, Halifax; Frank McGuire and wife, Julie, Camp Hill; grandchildren, Derik, Devin, Victoria, Ryan, Jeffrey, Katy, Maggie and Ronan; siblings, Patricia Dabaghi, Cresson; Mary Guzic, Lilly; Peggy Earhart, Boalsburg; Grace McGuire; Donna Brooks; James McGuire; Zita Gonos, all of Cresson; Hazel Marston, CA; Monica Herrin, MS; and Sandy Kee, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerard served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1995 and then in the PA Army National Guard Reserves. He retired from Norfolk Southern as a track worker. Gerard was a member of the Cresson American Legion Post 238, PA National Guard Association, Knights of Columbus – St. Ann’s Council, Cresson Senior Citizens, and St. Francis Xavier Church where he served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and adult alter server. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 22 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 23 at 10 a.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, the Rev. Leo Arnone, celebrant. Committal St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery.
