Geneva P. "Sis" Shoop

Shoop, Geneva P. “Sis”, 95, Mapleton Depot, passed away March 5, 2022, at Embassy Huntingdon Park. Born September 20, 1926, Three Springs, daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Kerlin) Covert. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Leroy S. Shoop, whom she married February 19, 1944; siblings, Kenneth Covert, Frank “Hank” Covert Jr., Marian (Covert) O’Donnell; and nephew, Steven Covert. Survived by nephews, Ken Covert and wife, Marlene, North Carolina; David O’Donnell and wife, Melanie, Pennsylvania; Jeffrey Covert and wife, Carmia, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Alda Covert, Illinois. Mrs. Shoop attended Mount Union Schools. She would go on to retire from Elco Corp. Mrs. Shoop was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Mapleton for over 60 years, where she was active in the choir, United Methodist Women and the Cheerful Givers Sunday School Class. She enjoyed socializing with friends and cooking for family gatherings. Mrs. Shoop loved to travel with her husband in their camper. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family. Family and friends will be received on Friday March 11, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m., at the funeral home, Pastors Jerry Wise and Michele Price, officiants. Interment to follow at Mapleton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
