Gail Lee Greenland, 80, Mapleton Depot, passed away on April 1, 2026, at UPMC Altoona. Born March 12, 1946, in Mapleton Depot, son of the late William and Helen (Miller) Greenland. In addition to his parents, Gail is preceded in death by brother, W. John Greenland; sisters, Ann Sunderland, Jane Mills, and Nancy Cornelius. Gail is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy (Carowick) Greenland; sons, William and wife Jennifer Greenland, Matthew Greenland; granddaughter, Emily Greenland; grandsons, Caleb Greenland, Collin Greenland; sister, Joy Parr and husband Tom. He worked as a prison guard at SCI Huntingdon, where he dedicated over 30 years of service. Outside of work, he was a farmer and gardener who took pride in working the land and caring for the things he grew. He had a talent for woodworking and especially enjoyed operating his portable sawmill, creating pieces with skill and patience. He loved reading. He also enjoyed metal detecting along the beach, always hopeful to uncover a hidden treasure. Above all, he treasured time with his family and rarely missed the opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s activities, where he was always proud to cheer them on. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his appreciation for the simple things in life, and the love he had for his family. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 at Immanuel Bible Church, Three Springs.
